In late March 2023, Aputure launched the first series of RGBWW full-color LED pixel bars INFINBAR Series.

Designed to allow users to securely connect multiple devices of varying lengths and shapes, INFINIBAR’s revolutionary edgeless flat bar design allows for seamless connections, eliminating visible gaps between fixtures and opening up new creative possibilities for filmmakers, whether hidden on set or used as an internal utility tool on camera set. Introducing in June 2024, the 4-Light Kit configuration offers increased usability and portability, bringing ease, power, and flexibility to any scenario.

“When our INFINIBAR power users asked for more portable options and accessories, we listened,” said Ted Sim, co-founder and president of Aputure. “The new 4-Light kits and accessories further expand the capabilities of the INFINIBAR system by adding power options and mounting in a portable kit that can be carried by one person.”

Each INFINIBAR has three 5.5mm barrel DC ports that can be used not only to charge/power the lights, but also to transfer DC power to other INFINIBARs. In most cases this can be achieved using the INFINIBAR connector with built-in wiring. While it is possible to create dramatic lighting effects with intricate patterns composed of countless INFINIBARs, there are some rules to follow due to the maximum electrical load and line losses that the 5.5mm barrel DC port can handle.

There is also a 24V V-Mount Battery Power Station, which adds support for 14v, 26v and 28.8v V-mount batteries with a power of up to 200W. When connected via the power sharing connector, users can operate multiple INFINIBARs with one power supply, and power is supplied from the Power Station to the Infinibar via the DC power cable.

With endless possibilities, INFINIBAR is perfect for creating large lighting arrays, built directly into production installations, or used in music videos or product photography. Mount the LED strips to ferromagnetic surfaces using the built-in high-strength neodymium magnets, or clip-on using the included INFINIBAR Rail and Clamp System, foldable tripod, tilt-mount bracket, or a variety of 1/4-20” mounting points – the creative applications for these pixel strips are endless.

In addition to Sidus Link app control, INFINIBAR also brings industry-standard LumenRadio CRMX wireless control to existing workflows, enabling industry professionals, cinematographers and lighting technicians to remotely control INFINIBAR and its individual lighting engines. For a more permanent setup and stable connection, you can also control INFINIBAR via wired DMX using the wired Aputure Active USB-C to 5-pin DMX adapter.

If the majority of your work is in the music or event space, then INFINIBAR might make solid purchase sense for you, too. But whether you should immediately start replacing all the accent lighting in your music or event space with INFINIBARS, the first thing to consider must be price. INFINIBAR comes in three lengths (1', 2' and 4'), priced at USD299, USD479 and USD639 respectively. In most cases, building a lighting set using only INFINIBARS would be prohibitively expensive. If price is not a consideration, INFINIBAR would be a good choice.
