American photographer Joel Meyerowitz was born in 1938 and is famous for his street photography. He is also good at capturing portraits and landscapes. In 1962, inspired by his work with photographer Robert Frank, he quit his job as an art director at an advertising agency and stepped into the streets of New York City with a 35mm camera and black-and-white film, becoming a street photographer.


Soon after, Joel Meyerowitz switched to color photography to record the streets, becoming a pioneer in advocating the use of color despite resistance from multiple environments in the early days when black and white film was still considered formal photography.


Meyerowitz's photographs have won numerous awards and have been exhibited in museums and galleries around the world. He has published more than 15 photography books.
